It happened right outside Covington Catholic High School Saturday morning. Police say 68yearold roger Lee Stephenson was hit while crossing the street. He died at the scene. He usually waits for his bus coming this way. When he sees his bus, he crosses over. Looks like thats what he was doing, crossing over to get on the bus. Jonathan the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Kenton county police are overseeing the investigation. He was a father, husband, and avid cyclist. There was a huge show of support from the cycling xhunlt this weekend, honoring a man killed in a hit and run crash in the story. It strikes a nerve with everyone wh

Reporter the out of town victim thought he found his valentine s companion, but he fell victim to a plan to abduct and rob him. He was not severely injured, perhaps his ego. Reporter investigators say the 22yearold man met the woman. He brought her back to his room at this quality inn around 10 pm. Investigators say the woman stepped outside to take a phone call. And moments later, a man barges in. Reporter the man had a gun. Deputies say they forced the victim to go with them to get cash at several atms. They proceeded to go from atm to atm to atm, six in total and they get money averaging probably a lot of people s weekly pay. Reporter eventually a machine took the victim s card so the suspects couldn t get more money. They popped him in the mouth and the eye and dropped him off and left. Together for one last ride. It strikes a nerve with everyone who rides a bike. It is the kind of thing this Community Never wants to have, a ghost bike ride. Today is a sorrowful day for the community. Hundreds and hundreds of cyclists came together to give Michael Prater s last and final ride. It is empowering to see this many people are coming out. Just a s show of support. Anchor the hit and run crash which killed the father of two children hit close to home. The driver had Drug Paraphernalia in her suv. There was nothing michael could have done to prevent this. It could happen at any time. It is a scary thought. The white ghost bike is there is a vivid reminder. Bicycling is about people. Whenever people are involved you have experiences like this. Riding bikes was a way of life. Now that his life is gone his life is being honored with the passion he had.
