After a controversy arose over reports of a woman purportedly getting two shots of an anti-Covid vaccine in one go at a primary health centre in Akbarpur area of Kanpur Dehat district, health officials claimed that only one dose was administered.
The condition of a woman, who was allegedly administered two shots of the vaccine is stable, officials said. A senior official, meanwhile, ruled out the possibility of two doses being given in one go.
Two doses technically not possible It is technically not possible to administer two shots to anyone back to back, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told PTI in Lucknow after reports emerged that the auxiliary nursing midwife (ANM), who gave the shots, was on a phone call leading to the goof-up.

Indian carried out 18.63 lakh Covid-19 vaccinations till 7 pm on Monday, taking the total number of vaccine shots administered to nearly 3.18 crore since the drive commenced two months ago on January 16.
While 74.08 lakh health care workers took the first dose, while nearly 43.98 lakh among them received the second shot also. Among frontline workers 74.26 lakh and around 13.24 lakh received the firt and second dose respectively. About 95.19 lakh among people bove 60 years of age and a little over 16,96 lakh people with co-morbidities too received their first dose of vaccine so far.
On Monday, around 15.98 lakh beneficiaries received their first shot, while over 2.65 lakh received the second dose as well, according to a statement issued by the Health Ministry.

MUMBAI: Not only will the state authorities start administering the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from Monday, private hospitals in Mumbai will also be allowed to vaccinate their staff in the coming week.
According to a notification issued by the public health department of the state government on Saturday, when 31,976 healthcare and frontline workers were administered the vaccine shots, those healthcare workers who have received their first dose of the vaccine and have completed a four-week period from that point of time can now take the second dose in accordance with the standard guidelines laid down by Union health ministry.

Four beds were put up in the observation room. Victoria hospital, which will see the maximum number of vaccine takers, is getting the registration area ready and other facilities are being spruced up.
