The Pennsylvania Department of Health has issued a new order aimed at speeding up the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.“We are taking bold, decisive action,” Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said Friday.Read the order here.The order requires vaccine providers to administer at least 80% of their allotment of first doses within a week of receiving them.Providers must also offer telephone operators to help people who can’t schedule their appointments online.“We want to make sure that the phone line is staffed by real, live individuals that will be able to take your information and schedule an appointment,” Beam said.Providers must indicate the race and ethnicity of the patients getting shots, as well as report inventory levels to the state in a timely manner.The health department is drastically reducing the number of vaccine providers from about 1,700 to just a couple hundred, including hospitals and pharmacies with broad reach and the technology systems to make the plan wo
