There are varied opinions regarding the beginning of Covid19 third wave in India. While many experts believe that it will happen, some say that it might not. Nevertheless, the states started stocking up and making necessary arrangements for the same. As medical experts believe that the third wave if and when it happens, will affect children, most states are preparing accordingly.
AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria explained that the third wave might not affect children in a way that people are saying as the ace receptors which helps the infection to bind and spread in the human body, is less in children. They might not be as vulnerable as many are saying.
Cases Of intestinal Black Fungus Reported in Delhi May 23, 2021, 14:50 IST
There has been a rise in black fungus cases in India. The infection mostly affects the eyes and lungs. It has become another concern amidst the second wave of Covid19. While all this is happening, a hospital in Delhi reported two cases where the infection was found in the intestine.
What comes as a surprise is that two such cases were reported at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital but among them, one patient did not even take any steroids. The excessive use of steroids in Covid treatment has been identified as the major reason behind Black fungus infection.
Covid19 Update: CM Arvind Kejriwal Extends Lockdown Till May 31 in Delhi May 23, 2021, 14:03 IST
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the lockdown in Delhi will be further extended by another week. It will now be till May 31, 5 am. The CM came on this decision as the positivity rate in Delhi is coming down.
The positivity rate has come down to 2.5% and the number of daily cases being reported is also less. Delhi reported 1,600 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. Since the people of Delhi cooperated, the cases are coming down, to further keep help the rate to decrease, it is necessary to follow these strict guidelines for some more time.
