Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra in a letter to all medical colleges and CDMOs said: "The recent rise in COVID-19 cases across India necessitates immediate and proactive measures to combat any surge in COVID-19 cases in the state. In continuation of the earlier communication, you are requested to implement the action points given therein and to remain alert to meet any exigency".
At least 64 students have been tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha's Rayagada district. All the school students were inmates of two separate hostels in the district. As per District Welfare Officer Ashok Satpathy, 44 students of the hostel named ‘Anwesha’ in the Kotlaguda area tested positive on May 4. The students tested positive when an RT-PCR test was done on all 257 inmates.
The Odisha government has drawn guidelines, including a week-long rapport building exercise for students of classes 1 to 7 as schools reopen on Monday.
