We learnt earlier today that the governments wage support scheme for furloughed workers is to be extended, across the uk, until the end of march. The chancellor told the house of commons that the governments priority remains the protection of lives and livelihoods. Rishi sunak announced that the scheme will pay up to 80 of someones wage, to a maximum of £2,500 a month, and that the policy will be reviewed in january. He also announced further help for self employed people. He stressed that furlough will remain in place for all nations of the United Kingdom after criticism that it appeared to favour england.
