A coronavirus test report is no longer needed to get hospitalised, the government has said in its revised guidelines that make sure that those suffering from Covid get prompt, effective and comprehensive treatment . The new measures - that come as a huge relief amid an exponential surge in cases - also stress that no patient will be refused on any count . In a significant directive to the states, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revised the national policy for admission of Covid patients to various categories of facilities, an official statement said this afternoon. Hospitals can also no longer refuse patients from another city.
In a relief to patients, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday revised the national policy for admission of Covid patients to various categories of Covid facilities. This patient-centric measure aims to ensure prompt, effective and comprehensive treatment of patients suffering from Covid-19, the ministry said. According to the revised policy, requirement of a positive test for Covid-19 virus is not mandatory for admission to a Covid health facility. A suspect case must be admitted to the suspect ward of Covid Care Center (CCC), Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) or Dedicated Covid Hospital (DHC) as the case may be.

The Chairperson also took the stock of implementation of SoPs and health facilities available in District Hospital Ramban. She also reviewed the stock position of medicines and medical oxygen cylinders besides directing Medical Superintendent, DH, Ramban, Dr. Abdul Hameed Zargar to ensure availability of oxygen for patients in adequate quantities.
She also took stock of progress on installation of Oxygen Generation Plant & MGPS (Medical Gas Pipeline System). The Medical Superintendent, DH apprised the Chairperson that work on the Oxygen Generation Plant was on the verge of completion and it would start functioning soon.
The Chairperson also reviewed the progress on vaccination and directed officers of the Health Department to intensify the vaccination and Covid testing across the district. She also met with patients and enquired about healthcare services as well as facilities being provided by the Health Department to them

The Supreme Court Wednesday lauded the efforts of Maharashtra authorities in ensuring oxygen supply to COVID patients in Mumbai and asked the Centre and the Delhi government to talk with the civic body officials of that city to learn about augmenting and managing the supply.
The observations were made during the hearing and in the order of the top court which stayed contempt proceedings initiated by the Delhi High Court against central government officials for non-compliance of direction to supply 700 MT of oxygen for COVID patients to Delhi.
Meet Dattatraya Sawant, Mumbai teacher who drives auto-rickshaw to ferry COVID-19 patients for free

Amid the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a school teacher in Mumbai has come forward to help the coronavirus patients by providing a rickshaw service from hospital to home and visa versa for free.
Dattatraya Sawant, a teacher by profession, drives the auto-rickshaw by himself and provides a free ride to COVID-19 patients while taking all precautions like wearing a PPE kit, sanitisation and others.
Sawant, who lives in the Ghatkopar area, is an English teacher at Dnyansagar Vidya Mandir School.
Considering the increasing number of coronavirus patients across the state, Sawant has been providing free services in northeast Mumbai for the last few days.
