Delhi High Court expressed anguish over the way things have transpired in the 2nd wave of COVID-19 where vaccine shortage is hitting everyone even when the Centre says the best way to fight the pandemic is to vaccinate everyone.
The Serum Institute of India (SII) has applied to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking permission to manufacture COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in the country, sources said today.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said the fact that the states are left to competing and fighting with one another in the international market for COVID-19 vaccines portrays a "bad" image of India.
Sadananda Gowda said government is doing its job sincerely, however some shortcomings have surfaced.

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers DV Sadananda Gowda today sought to know whether people in the government should hang themselves for their failure to produce vaccines as was directed by the court. The court has with good intention said everyone in the country should get vaccinated. I want to ask you, if the court says tomorrow that you have to give this much (of vaccine), if it has not been produced yet, should we hang ourselves? Mr Gowda told reporters in Bengaluru.
Replying to queries on the shortage of vaccine, the Union Minister stressed on the plan of action of the government and said its decisions are not guided by any political gain or by any other reason.
The Centre has so far provided nearly 16.54 crore vaccine doses to states and UTs free of cost. Of these, the total consumption including wastages is 15,76,32,631 doses
