She described the concept as second generation formulations” of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Addressing the Science and Technology Committee, Prof Gilbert, according to The Times, said: “We have flu vaccines that are given by nasal spray, and this could be a very good approach in the future for vaccines against coronaviruses.
“It’s also possible to consider oral vaccination, where you take a tablet.
“That would have a lot of benefits for vaccine roll-out, if you didn’t have to use the needles and syringes.

Although experts have been able to confirm its effectiveness, the spray acts as a temporary solution.

Pankaj Sharma, a Professor of Neurology at Royal Holloway, University of London, explained the process to the Daily Telegraph.
He told the publication the spray aims to kill the infection where it grows, in the back of the throat.
Professor Sharma said: We all have it in our body: it keeps the blood vessels dilated and it’s involved in immunity.

A nasal spray that can prevent chances of contracting coronavirus for two days is in development at the University of Birmingham and is expected to be available in pharmacies in the next few months, according to The Sunday Telegraph.
