Unemployment rate continues to rise as lockdowns derail economic activity
Weekly unemployment rate has jumped sharply as a result of reduced economic activity and mobility curbs during the second Covid-19 wave. Data indicates that urban unemployment has jumped sharply in the week ended May 23.

Weekly data from the Centre For Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) suggests that unemployment rate has climbed upwards for the fourth consecutive week and is now at the highest level since June 2020.

COLLEGE STATION, TX â A suspect has been arrested after College Station PD said he confirmed trying to break into cars.
Christopher Jaali Ford, 19, has been charged with attempted burglary of a motor vehicle and failure to identify.
On April 22, a College Station police officer responded to a call in the 800 block of Wellborn Road.
According to the probable cause statement, the officer asked Ford, Dude you just trying to get change to get something to eat?

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on April 19 said she has taken inputs from various industry chambers on concerns of India Inc. with regard to the management of COVID-19 pandemic and the Centre would continue to work with State governments to save lives and livelihood.
She sought feedback from businesses to deal with the impact of the second COVID-19 wave on the country s economy.
It is to be noted that the economy contracted by a whopping 23.9% in the first quarter (April-June) of the previous financial year due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
