Securities and Exchange Commission SEC issued $3 million whistleblower award to individual who voluntarily provided original information that led to a successful SEC enforcement action. Qualified whistleblowers entitled to monetary awards of 10-30% of funds collected by SEC.
On January 19, the SEC awarded $18 million to three whistleblowers who separately made disclosures which contributed to the success of the same enforcement action. The whistleblowers’ voluntary disclosures led to millions of dollars being returned to harmed investors.
On January 12 and 13, the SEC issued three separate whistleblower awards totaling over $6.2 million. Through the SEC Whistleblower Program, the awarded whistleblowers voluntarily provided original information to the SEC that led to successful enforcement actions.
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission awarded $3.2 million to four whistleblowers who analyzed complex accounting data in public filings and shared their expertise with SEC enforcement staff. On the same day, the SEC also issued five separate whistleblower award denials.
Through the SEC Whistleblower Program, qualified whistleblowers are entitled to monetary awards of 10-30% of the funds collected by the government in the relevant enforcement action. The SEC has awarded over $1.3 billion to over 280 whistleblowers.
