Out. He told us he was driving normally but in abnormal conditions. Well, i hydroplaned so, you know, theres water on the ground and my tires didnt like that. So crashed. Reporter the rain and fog that apparently contributed to the accident also led to close calls behind him. It was really scary because everybody stopped very suddenly. I think it just happened, you know, not too long ago, so pretty scary when that happened. Everybody was stopping really quickly. I was looking in my rear view mirror to make sure somebody wasnt going to slam me from behind. You obviously have to drive slow. Wet roadway conditions, you never want to drive too fast. Motorcycles faced the crowds under highway 24 of the overpass before the demonstrators got on the freeway. At this hour, protesters are marching through oakland that started in berkeley. Cheryl, berkeley canceled their Council Meeting tonight, but protesters were there anyway. Reporter they did. We had about 200 of them here tonight. As you can see, jessica, they have barricades up around police headquarters. They were preparing for the worst. They have been met with a lot of tension and violence. Tonights protest did start out peaceful. A problem protesters have been calling attention to for the past four days in berkeley. Police in riot gear lined up in front of the crowd. Their message was clear. In the defense of law and order, who is on the right side, us or them . Its clear that this is on the other side. The berkeley mayor canceled the Council Meeting. And this day did not arrive without a warning. The homeless knew for a while that this day was actually coming. I heard from a merchant nearby here around the encampment, she told me the homeless are now hanging around her bar here on story road and key street in san jose. She says theyve told her theyre waiting for the cops to leave the area and then theyll come back and maybe reinhabit the homeless encampment. You can see right now, most of the activity is still to the west of 101. And as we head throughout probably the next two to three hours, thats when were going to start to see the heaviest stuff roll through the north bay. Then between 1 00 and 4 00 like i was talking about, thats when were going to see everything press to the south. Heres the deal. We have a saturated ground already and very gusty winds.
