Spring, 2021, is right around the corner and so is the official opening day of Playland s Castaway Cove on the boardwalk in Ocean City.
Playland s Castaway Cove is set to officially open their rides for the 2021 season over the weekend of March 27th-March 28th.
Before their big reopening, renovations must take place due to the devastating fire that took place at the end of January. The accidental 4-alarm fire at the iconic amusement park caused major damage to the building, including their signature pirate ship.
According to a report by 6 ABC, offices and the building at Playland s Castaway Cove will be demolished and rebuilt to prepare for a safe and fun-filled season.
PANAMA CITY The prospect of a community-oriented business in the heart of the Cove that would cater to locals seeking everything from gasoline and ice, to a taste of foods from around the community and a breath of fresh air to enjoy it in, has sparked fast and intense interest.
Brothers Chris and Will Cramer and spouses Pam and Monica, respectively, made a simple post on The Cove Facebook page last week asking members, “Who’s craving this (with a picture of a business) at the corner of Cherry St. and Bonita on the site of the old Bailey s gas station?”

The Ocean City Fire Department responded to the multi-alarm fire, first reported at 7:40 a.m., on the 1000 block of the boardwalk.
The arcade and offices of Playland’s Castaway Cove, as well as Hamburger Construction Company and Dairy Queen, suffered extensive damage from the west wind-fueled fire. Required structural firewalls between properties also worked effectively, according to a press release, sparing neighboring buildings.
