Belmont girls take a pair from Winnisquam

February 11, 2021TILTON The Winnisquam and Belmont girls hoop teams met up for a pair of games last week, with the Raiders coming out with a 41-30 win on Thursday, Feb. 4, in Belmont and then a 47-16 win the following night in Tilton.
The first game saw the two teams separated by just a point after one half, with Belmont up 18-17. However, the Raiders pulled away in the second half and secured the win. We really got ourselves in foul trouble in the first half, with both our bigs having three fouls each, said Winnisquam coach Mark Dawalga. Give Belmont credit, they played well.

CONWAY â What a difference a month makes.
The Conway School Board had been facing a $2.1 million increase to the proposed 2021-22 operating budget. But after extensive meetings between administrators and âsome difficult decisionsâ being made, on Monday night, Superintendent Kevin Richard was able to present to the board a new budget that was about $1 million lower.
The operating budget that the school board unanimously voted to accept on Monday totals $37,439,229 (excluding warrant articles). It is up 3.46 percent over the current 2020-21 budget of $36,185,460.
âWe definitely sharpened the pencils,â Richard said at Monday s Zoom-held school board meeting, which was attended by about 30 people.
