Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud made it clear on Friday that no vacation bench will sit in Supreme Court during the upcoming winter break of the court.
The PIL filed by Sabina Lakdawala challenged the vacations taken by the high court, claiming it was in violation of the fundamental rights of litigants whose rights to seek justice will be affected.

In order to reduce the pendency in Criminal Appeals, the Chief Justice has ordered that special sittings will be held during vacation to hear Jail Appeals / Legal Aid Matters.
