The plea was filed in September last year after the Delhi High Court refused to delete certain comments against the trial court judge for passing strictures against the Delhi Police over a criminal probe.
"The State would have been required to bear financial burden in thousands of crore rupees, which would have, in turn, passed on to the consumers," the top court observed.
The interim order was passed on a PIL by NGO Vanashakti which has challenged the move to allow mining projects without first obtaining environmental clearances under the EIA notification, 2006.
