Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State has stated that he has instructed his lawyers to file an appeal at the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Court of Appeal which sacked him from office on Sunday. According to a statement on Sunday, the governor expressed “strong optimism that the mandate overwhelmingly given to him by the people of Plateau State would be restored, as he has instructed his legal team to file an appeal at the Supreme Court.”
The Nigeria Police Force, Plateau State command, has deployed its men to strategic occasions around the state in the wake of the judgement of A Court of Appeal which invalidates the election of Governor Caleb Muftwang. A three-member panel, in a unanimous decision on Sunday in Abuja, held that Muftwang was not validly sponsored by the PDP as provided by Section 285(2) of the Nigerian Constitution.
