what we did learn is the special counsel s office was very interested, they called it at this hearing, the heart of their investigation, a meeting between paul manafort around august 2nd of 2016 and a russian operative, a name by the name of konstantin kilimnik. this is the man that paul manafort shared internal trump polling data with. there was a lot of concern and lot of talk that they ve been trying to figure out exactly what was going on between this relationship between paul manafort and this russian operative, and they say that is part of the what is the heart of the mueller investigation. we re also learning that prosecutors are still investigating michael cohen s campaign finance violations. what does that mean for president trump? well, it could be problematic, certainly for his organization. the trump organization. we know that people have been into the southern district of new york, prosecutors in new york, regarding this investigation. that investigation, we learned,
linked to russian military intelligence. we re also going to learn today from michael flynn. we will hear from his lawyers who are submitting their sentencing memorandum where they will make their case for why he should get no jail time. we heard from the special counsel s office last week that flynn was very critical in cooperating. he also offered first-hand information about interactions between trump s transition team and russian officials, that that sentencing memorandum was heavily redacted. we anticipate flynn s court filing today will also be heavily redacted. but it will kick off a busy week. tomorrow we have michael cohen being sentenced. he s going to make the case that he shouldn t get any time and a reduced jail sentence. we should hear from prosecutors there tomorrow. it will be a dramatic day. the culmination of michael cohen s story. and we re also expecting tomorrow afternoon the accused
that president putin was not aware of the trump deal for the tallest building in moscow and possibly in all of europe, putting candidate trump s flattery, he s absolute leader, he s strong, he s an absolute leader, and trump s suggestion of changing american policy to russia in a whole new, disturbing and ugly light. and in a court filing today, prosecutors say cohen admitted that he lied to congress about the moscow deal after trump became president to protect him and to, quote, minimize links between the moscow project and trump and give the false impression that the moscow project ended before the iowa caucus in the very first primary in the hopes of limiting the ongoing russia investigations. now, those russia investigations are focusing very heavily on events that happened in june of 2016, including the russian hack of the dnc, that meeting of papadopoulos and an ambassador. that hack, by the way, of the dnc broke in the washington post on june 14th of 2016, which according to c
articles that have talked about it, how this was something that the trump organization has wanted to do for many years. the trump family has made it no secret that a large proportion of their businesses, their condo units, their apartments, are sold to russians. so it would always be a logical next step to open a trump tower in russia itself right in moscow. and that is something that would make sense for them both financially and it s something that there s been wide reporting on, has been an ambition going back many years. peter, you followed the campaign and you ve been following the presidency, certainly. donald trump confused a lot of folks when he would repeatedly praise vladimir putin during 2016. he would never had aing negati word to say about him. they changed the platform to be friendlier to russia when it came to ukraine. when you see the court filing today with michael cohen, does
piece of what they said in this court filing. it says, quote, after signing the plea agreement, manafort committed federal crimes by lying to the fbi and to the special counsel s office on a variety of subject matters, which constitute breaches of this agreement. if you remember as part of that september plea agreement, don, the special counsel had essentially said that they were willing to encourage a judge to show him some leniency. this is a man obviously who is approaching his 70s, and he s staring at a couple decades in prison. so this was not a small thing, and apparently according to the special counsel, he has blown this all up by lying repeatedly to the investigators over the period of nine times that we ve seen him go in there, spending dozens of hours in interviews with the special counsel s office. i should add that according to the court filing today, manafort himself says that he s provided truthful information and that he doesn t agree that he breached this agreement wit
