End of an era - Pauline Thornton has made a huge contribution to healthcare services during her 50-year career RETIRING care home manager Pauline Thornton has reflected on her “incredible journey” after half a century of healthcare work. The 67-year-old has spent the last decade working at Colonia Court Bupa Care Home, in Colchester, where she started in 2011. Pauline trained as a nurse at London’s Harefield and Mount Vernon Hospital, in 1971. She then ran a care home in Clacton for 17 years, alongside husband, Martin. In 2000, Pauline went on to work as a home manager at Carnarvon Care Home, Clacton, for two years, before becoming a home manager at Colonia Court.
