this week. they won t litigate it in public. they want to get a cbo score before they move forward. this meeting today with the president and vice president, how do you think it impacts or moves things forward? can it and will it? you would think generally the president and vice president coming to capitol hill would move the needle. a lot of the lack of focus is a direct result of everything happening down pennsylvania at the white house. it s supposed to be infrastructure week at the white house. i have gotten the press releases. instead we have the president in a war of words over twitter with the mayor of london attacking his own justice department over a travel ban, quote, unquote, that he himself signed and so of course comey coming up on thursday, his much-anticipated testimony. i m not sure that the political situation lends itself to focusing on a legislative agenda here in d.c.
then it becomes part of the special prosecutors case. mueller has a mandate. he s looking at people in the white house now and he will look at the over all obstruction of justice charges. whatever comey says of course comey has to be held to because he s going to say it under oath in front of a senate hearing. nonetheless it would be something mueller would look into. one thing we have to remember however comey perceived whatever president trump was saying to him as a legal matter we all know as a political matter and i think as a sort of as a m matter of constitutional normal president trump shouldn t have said that to comey. whether joking or fry trying to figure out where things are never should be in a position where they can be accused of
that is correct. it was not delivered by the chief of staff, reince priebus, or by any other official in the white house. trump gave the letter to schiller to personally deliver. of course comey was in los angeles at the time. did they know that? i don t know that they knew that. letter was delivered to the fbi building for comey to receive, but comey was not there in person. i don t know if the white house knew that in advance or not. i think that the fact that schiller is the person tapped to do that speaks volumes about how personal this was for trump. the president has gone back and forth on comey. he s expressed criticism. he s expressed endorsement of him. here he is in last november praising the comey letter. take a listen to this. it took guts for director comey to make the move that he made in light of the kind of opposition he had where they re trying to protect her from criminal prosecution.
