The Ghana Prisons Service has reacted to the integrity of a CHRAJ corruption report which ranked the Service at number 10 in terms of bribe-taking institutions.

He named musicians like Geeman, Ramzy, the late Ibrahim Sima (Exopa), and Kwaw Kesse who experienced the prison system and culture in Ghana and can attest to the fact that all inmates are treated the same. ASP Opoku said: The Constitution of the land and the rules that govern the operations of the Prisons Service do not make reservations for separate treatment for celebrities who commit offences and are found guilty by the court of law . Earlier, the Chief Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Prisons Service, Courage Atsem said persons convicted for non-first degree felony offences are qualified for what he described as a one-third remission sentence.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has issued a raft of promotions that run through the topmost positions to the rank and file in the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS).
The President gave the approval for the promotions last Tuesday on the advice of the Prisons Service Council, in accordance with Article 207(3) of the 1992 Constitution.
New departments
The service has also created two new directorates Agriculture, which has been decoupled from Operations, and Health.
A statement signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the GPC, Chief Superintendent of Prisons (CSP) Courage Atsem, said the Director of Prisons (DOP), Mr Isaac Kofi Egyir, has now been promoted to Deputy Director-General of Prisons (DDGP) in charge of Operations.
A total of 12 senior officers were promoted.
A statement signed by the Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Courage Atsem listed the promotions as follows:
1. Director of Prisons (DOP) to the Deputy Director-General of Prisons (DDGP)
Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir who was the Director of Prisons (DOP) in Charge of Operations is now the Deputy-Director-General of Prisons (DDGP) In-Charge of Operations
2. Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) to Director of Prisons (DOP)
a. DDP Francis Omane-Addo, formerly the Acting Director In-Charge of Agriculture, is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Welfare.
b. DDP. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, hitherto the Acting Director of Prisons In-Charge of Health is now the Director of Prisons In-Charge of Services and Technical.
