Historic bridge to be restored, relocated, given new life

Historic bridge to be restored, relocated, given new life As Newswatch 16 s Marshall Keely shows us, the bridge in Schuylkill County will have a new purpose and a new look. Author: Marshall Keely (WNEP) Updated: 7:11 PM EDT May 6, 2021 MOUNT CARBON, Pa. An 1894 bow-string arch bridge in Mount Carbon is now at the center of a PennDOT project. The bridge spans the Schuylkill River right across the street from Goodfella s Cafe.  It was first used for automobiles, then pedestrians. Now, the area is blocked off and overgrown. The bridge deck is mostly gone. But PennDOT officials saw it as a great candidate for a project aimed at restoring old bridges and connecting them to trails.

MABL votes to repeal resolution enacted Monday | News, Sports, Jobs

bcox@lewistownsentinel.com LEWISTOWN During a brief special meeting Friday, the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown Board of Directors voted to repeal a resolution enacted at Monday’s special meeting that sought to have Lewistown Borough take over the authority’s debt for the purpose of refinancing. The board’s discussion centered around the need to have funding available for MABL’s capital improvement projects. Under the resolution, it seemed as though MABL would have been forced to seek approval from Lewistown Borough for any expenditures. Engineer Pat Ward said there was some “miscommunication with what was going on” at Monday’s meeting.
