May sessions highlight the importance of rejecting mental health stigmas
May is mental health awareness month and Wellness in the Woods is hosting virtual sessions on rejecting stigmas on mental health diagnoses, chemical health, different nationalities and the LGBTQ community. 9:30 am, May 5, 2021 ×
Through a peer network open to the community, Wellness in the Woods staff members are having sessions focused on the theme, “It’s my story. No more secrets. No more shame” to highlight stigmas surrounding mental health.

People might keep a mental health diagnosis or struggle hidden, not know about the resources available, decide to self-medicate or ‘tough it out’ on their own. But each of these are impacted by the stigmas surrounding mental health.

TIGARD, Ore. Theresa Chapin says Tigard police failed her friend when they shot and killed him early Wednesday evening.
But Chapin wants people to remember and know Macduff how she knew him. He (Jacob) has been very sick for a long time and has manic episodes. And he doesn t really have anybody around so I stay around to be there for him.
