Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) is joining the Jepp family, LiveOnNY and local organ donation advocates in an urgent search for a living donor for Vivian, who has endured years of dialysis and two previous attempts at transplants. Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton met with Vivian recently during a dome-lighting ceremony commemorating National Donate Life Month. Her search for a donor was sidelined in the spring of 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that public health conditions have improved and stabilized, the race is on to find her a match.

Popular tax exemptions for income-eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities will be automatically renewed for the 2021-22 tax year due to emergency action by the Nassau County Legislature During a recent emergency meeting, legislators voted unanimously to waive renewal application requirements for Nassau residents who received the Senior Citizen tax exemption and Exemption for Persons with Disabilities in the 2020-21 tax year- as long as they are still eligible to receive the exemption, which is provided to residents with limited income, in 2021-22. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran signed the measure into law the same day. The Legislature’s action eliminates the need for in-person visits to tax offices by recipients of these exemptions ahead of a Jan. 4, 2021 filing deadline amidst a winter spike in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
