An organization that advocates and supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities has filed a complaint against five Maryland counties and Baltimore City, alleging they are providing unequal access to COVID-19 vaccines to the community.
After a firestorm of opposition and push back, Gov. Inslee s supported bill that would replace county health districts with regional entities has been altered. Why?
The original plan laid out by Inslee during his series of budget goal press conferences contained a plan he did not discuss in publicly:
dissolving or doing away with county health districts including county health boards.
Under his original plan, for example, the Benton Franklin County Health District and the controlling county health board made up of the six B-F Commissioners
would be gone.
Inslee wants to see the state divided into 9 regions, which is bringing out a lot of opposition even some from Democrats.
Cure Insurance Arena in To Be COVID-19 Vaccination Site
Mercer County is teaming up with Capital Health to open a COVID-19 vaccination site at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, according to TAPinto Hamilton/Robbinsville.
Mercer County Executive, Brian Hughes, made the announcement on Friday and revealed a soft opening is already planned for this week. “We are committed to doing everything we can to help get eligible people vaccinated as quickly as possible. We had a successful partnership with Capital Health during the COVID-19 testing program we established last spring, and I can’t think of a more fitting partner for this next phase of the pandemic response – the vaccination phase,” Hughes said.
