As of Tuesday, the county’s overall total was 9,985, with 157 deaths reported since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The average cases per 100,000 residents over the last 14 days rose to 221.
Transylvania County currently has a higher case rate per 100,000 residents with an average of 396. Buncombe County’s average is 196, and Polk County 106. Transylvania County’s total COVID-19 case total is 2,289 with 32 reported deaths. Polk County’s total is 1,453 with 28 deaths, and Buncombe County’s overall total is 17,316 cases and 313 deaths.
