ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. If you would like to attend a Buffalo Bills or Buffalo Sabres game later this year you may have to be vaccinated for COVID-19 first.
During Erie County s weekly COVID-19 briefing, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz discussed a plan to allow full attendance at both Bills and Sabres games. Poloncarz says the county supports returning all fans to Highmark Stadium and the KeyBank Center this fall; however, under the county s plan, all fans and staff would be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
WBFO s Michael Mroziak reports.
By a 6 to 5 vote, the Erie County Legislature has approved County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s restoration of a Special Assistant to the Social Services Commissioner. It returns a job that was eliminated last year, but now includes a nearly $20,000 raise that would bring the salary up to just under $100,000.

Prior to the Erie County Legislature s full meeting Thursday morning, lawmakers held a joint caucus meeting during which Social Services Commissioner Marie Cannon defended the restored position. When asked what the new hire would do, she stated the individual would handle mostly day-to-day operations. Cannon added that with the state government imposing more responsibilities on county offices during the COVID pandemic, she needs help to get caught up with an increased workload.
Comptroller at odds with Erie County over COVID-19 fines
County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw enacted a policy directing that payment of such fines be sent not to the health department but to his office. Author: Dave McKinley Updated: 7:41 PM EST January 15, 2021
BUFFALO, N.Y. Erie County s comptroller claims the county’s health department is failing to follow some new rules he set up as the county s chief fiscal officer.
These rules have to do with how businesses who get fined for COVID-related infractions are supposed to pay them.
In December, after an Orchard Park Gym got fined $15,000 by the health department for alleged COVID-19 infractions, County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw enacted a policy directing that payment of such fines be sent not to the health department but to his office, where he also set up a repayment schedule, which, depending on the severity of the fines, allowed up to 100 years for such fines to be paid.

President Trump, in his last week in office, sets a new record for his constitutional use of pardon power. Trump issues provisional get-out-of-jail-free cards to âthe guys from Duck Dynasty, Tiger King or the Real Housewives shows for any future misdeeds, and anyone living who was implicated in the very strong interrogations done at Abu Ghraib after 9/11.â
