Fatal crash case involving Stafford deputy, pedestrian transferred to Culpeper
An investigation into an incident involving a Stafford County Sheriff’s Deputy striking and killing a pedestrian is complete.
The department finished its investigation into the July 9 crash that took the life of Jesse Schertz, 44, of Norfolk. Schertz was struck and killed by a Stafford sheriff’s deputy just after midnight on July 9.
The incident occurred on Route 610, in front of Paddy’s Public House, at 9 Center Street in North Stafford.
Stafford County Commonwealth Attorney Eric Olsen transferred the case to Culpeper County Commonwealth Attorney Paul Walther, who will make a determination on whether or not to pursue the case.
