After meeting Tuesday morning, Rural Fire District 1 is continuing the process of updating a fire suppression agreement with the city of Havre. “I’m doing some legwork on that. I have reviewed more regulations than ever thought I wanted to and I’m not done yet. At this point, I have met with Mayor Tim Solomon and we exchanged some information, questions, comments and concerns. He gave me some documents. I do have more information that I am going to request. I’ll do that via a letter from the board to him,” chair Steve Jamruszka said to people attending the meeting.

Rural Special Improvement District 21 is moving ahead with a project located in the 100-year floodplain and wetland in North Havre after a public meeting Tuesday night. The project involves upgrading the RSID’s existing and outdated submersible type lift station in the line that is connected to the wastewater treatment plant. A packaged submersible lift station will be constructed with an above-ground enclosure for controls and an area for a backup generator enclosed in new security fencing. “We did another lift station earlier, four or five years ago and when we moved into this one, to do the upgrade as far as the underground under the river pipeline, it went to the wastewater plant, a lot of that plumbing just fell apart,” Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said.

Commission tables second reading of social host ordinance
Last updated 4/23/2021 at 11:42am
The Hill County Commission in its weekly business meeting Thursday voted to table the second reading of a social host ordinance because the commissioners wanted more time to gather public opinion and investigate possible changes to the ordinance which would require the reading process to start over. The ordinance would make it a violation for the social host of a party or event who knows, or reasonably should know, that underage people are drinking alcohol to not make reasonable attempts to prevent it. The ordinance states that the host does not need to be present for the law to apply and could result in a misdemeanor charge.
