County officials want all residents to get the second vaccine dose

LANCASTER - The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines require two doses. But officials say not everyone is getting the second dose. Fairfield County Commissioner Dave Levacy said there are 5 million people in the country who have not returned for their second dose, a number numerous media outlets have recently reported. Therefore, county officials are urging residents to get that second dose. As of now about 59,000 county residents, or 37% of the total population, of those over 16 have at least received their first dose of the two-dose version, emergency management agency director Jon Kochis said. Since those under 16 are not vaccine eligible, he said the percentage is actually higher than the official number.
