THE Hawkshead Relish Company have been declared as Cumbria Business Champion at the Town and County Business Champions Awards 2021. Tuesday July 14 at the Tara Copthorne Hotel South Kensington London, small business finalists from around the country met to see if they were to lift a gong at the inaugural Town and County Business Champions. Heavy flash flooding and the need to socially distance did not deter from a wonderful celebratory lunch. With a full house declared, Marina Berry welcomed the businesses and with Lights, Action and Entertainment, the audience waited with bated breath. The awards were launched during the pandemic to allow small businesses the opportunity to compete with their neighbouring businesses to shout about their endeavours and success.
THE award-winning company have pushed through the challenges of lockdown to welcome back the public and gain its latest nomination. The Hawkshead Relish Company, located in the Square in Hawkshead, have reopened for business after the easing of lockdown restrictions on April 12. Upon reopening the team discovered they had been shortlisted as finalists in the Town & County Business Champions Awards 2021. During Covid, the company have used their time in lockdown to build a greater range of products and create new partnerships with our organisations. A spokesperson for Hawkshead Relish said: “Covid-19 has thrown up several challenges for the business, especially linked to the hospitality and wholesale sectors. However, because we ve more than one focus we were able to pivot and work to develop online sales and social media outputs to increase visibility and our customer base, revamp our website, and overall customer engagements through newsletters and targeting.

A Cumbrian firm has been shortlisted as a finalist in a national business awards.
Hawkshead Relish has been shortlisted as finalists in the national Town & County Business Champions Awards 2021.
The new awards launched in January are designed to highlight the achievements of the UKâs very best micro and small businesses who have been and are continuing to keep community spirit alive in their area.
These awards are all about celebrating the success of the people behind the businesses who have entered and the stories that have made them who they are.
The Relish team will now have to wait until July 14 to find out how they do at the northern national finals, which are being held at the Hard Dayâs Night Hotel, in Liverpool.
