By Dave Bohl Mar 2, 2021 (Ankeny, Iowa) Ankeny Police say a polling center for today s special election had to be evacuated after a suspicious device was discovered. Polk County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald says the device, found outside the Lakeside Center, was similar to a pipe bomb. The Ankeny Police Department says the device has been, “made safe.” Fitzgerald says they hope to re-open the Lakeside Center for voting soon, but until then people can vote at any other Ankeny polling place.
