Addressing post-pandemic surveying concerns | Mortgage Introducer

Matthew Cumber is managing director of Countrywide Surveying Services The challenges facing the mortgage market over the past 12 months have been well-documented from a number of angles. As an industry, it’s fair to say we have been fortunate in the fact that we have been able to operate at capacity for much of this time. Now it feels a little wrong to say this, especially in the wake of far bigger struggles being experienced across many markets, but these sustained levels of activity do create their own issues. Let me reiterate that I’m certainly not complaining. Although I do feel that it’s important to address post-pandemic issues as they arise in our relevant sectors, and there is much to discuss.

Countrywide appoints senior technical manager for risk and compliance

Countrywide Surveying Services has appointed Ana Bajri (pictured) as senior technical manager for risk and compliance. Bajri will be responsible for ensuring that services to customers and corporate clients are of the highest standard, as well as driving sustainable growth and success in a suitably risk controlled way while optimising the customer journey. Prior to this appointment, Bajri held a number of roles at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) over the past nine years. Most recently, she was an associate director in the international standards team at RICS where she was responsible for the development of technical standards and best practice guidance for professionals operating in the real estate sector.

Industry has little faith in government to resolve the cladding issue

Just 1% of industry professionals have total faith in the government to resolve the cladding issue within two years, according to a webinar poll undertaken by Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS). The poll posed the question, ‘How much faith do you have in the government (north and south of the border) to resolve the cladding issue within the next two years?’ A total of 256 attendees voted with 50% saying they were ‘not confident’, 34% were ‘unsure’, 15% suggested that they were ‘somewhat confident’ whilst only 1% opted for the ‘very confident’ option. This response came from the firm’s monthly webinar series, which revolved around a panel debate on cladding.
