St John Ambulance, Health Canada offering more Naloxone training

By Josh Sigurdson Apr 5, 2021 6:40 AM St. John Ambulance has announced it is partnering with Health Canada to help reduce opioid-related deaths across the country. The new programs are aimed at providing more people with Naloxone kits, increasing the survival rate of someone overdosing. Spokesperson Kevin McGowan said these programs are desperately needed right now. “Obviously, the crisis has been coming in waves, and just increasing and get worse and worse over the last five or ten years,” said McGowan. “This is an absolute critical time for us to have a project like this, and help Canada recognize that, and ask St. John Ambulance to attack pretty quickly.”

By Josh Sigurdson Churches around the province are preparing to celebrate their second Easter during COVID-19. While many churches are more prepared than last year, celebrations still won’t look the same. Deacon Eric Gurash with the Archdiocese of Regina says many churches are encouraging people to celebrate the holiday from home. “We’ve really been encouraging people to, since the mass attendance numbers are so low right now, really encouraging people to celebrate in their homes,” said Gurash. “Making available virtual services and making sure people have materials, and that to use to worship.” Gurash says, traditionally, Easter is one on the biggest church-going weekends of the year.

Four drive thru and walk-in COVID vaccination clinics open across Saskatchewan By Ryan McNally Apr 4, 2021 6:25 AM Three more COVID-19 vaccination drive thru clinics, and one more walk-in clinic, have opened up in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Health Authority has opened drive thru clinics in Regina, North Battleford and Prince Albert while opening a walk-in clinic in Weyburn. These join the Swift Current drive thru clinic that opened on Saturday. These clinics will be delivering the AstraZeneca vaccine, and are open to Saskatchewan residents 55 and older. They will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
