darren, he teaches here in the new york area. also joining me is former fbi supervisory special agent, josh campbell. he s cnn law enforcement analyst. and former senior counterterrorism official, phil mudd joins us as well. darren, just from what the fact all of these devices are now in the hand of authorities, there are many potential clues that could be in these devices. absolutely. when we look at these investigations into explosive ordnance, i like to figure it out as a three-legged stool. the first leg of the stool is the actual ordnance, what is the signature connected with this ordn ordnance. a bomb maker often has a signature, a particular way they make a bomb over and over. exactly. this is something law enforcement stores and look to moving forward. the second leg to the stool is the delivery system. we ve had different delivery systems in connection with this particular ordnance. here at cnn, for example, we had a courier that delivered it.

accurate, sometimes not even close. this is what he said about who is involved in the caravan yesterday. take your camera. take your camera, go into the middle and search. you re going to find ms-13. you re going to find middle easterns. you re going to find everything. guess what. we re not allowing them in our country. now, jim, that answer there was in response to a claim the president made that there are criminals and unknown middle eastern easterners. that s a quote from the president, involved in the caravan of migrants making their way to the u.s./mexico border. something that just isn t true. a counterterrorism official telling my colleague jessica schneider there s no evidence there are any kind of terrorist groups that are trying to infiltrate the u.s. southern border. what sarah sanders was asked how does the president have credible evidence there are middle easterners involved in the care van, she said absolutely.
sanders, also claims there s credible evidence of middle easterners in the caravan. but of course doesn t offer any specifics. well, our jessica schneider spoke to a senior counterterrorism official who says, while we acknowledge there are vulnerabilities at both our northern and southern borders, well, we do not see any evidence that isis or other sunni terrorist groups are trying to infiltrate the southern u.s. border. cnn also spoke to the homeland security department, and of course they don t have evidence to back up trump s claim either. the president is stoking fear by making it making it out like this caravan is an immediate threat. i will seal off the border before they come into this country, and i ll bring out our military. not our reserves. i ll bring out our military. but the pentagon says the military has not been asked to provide support as the caravan heads toward the southern border.
