The Ho Technical University has empowered its lecturers to deny access to indecently and provocatively dressed students.
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, at its 28th Matriculation Ceremony on Thursday, said the University sought to maintain its reputation of decency and respect for the benefit of students and would continue to forbid “all acts of gross indiscipline.”
He said the University required students to dress suitably at all times, and also did not permit politically branded materials at lectures and official functions.
“Fighting or any form of physical assault, stealing, noise-making, use of drugs and alcohol are prohibited in the University.
James Oppong-Boanuh, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has urged personnel of the Ghana Police Service in the Bawku enclave in the Upper East Region to ensure discipline and professionalism to maintain the prevailing peace in the area.

Sexual Harassment: Dons call for improved policies in varsities

Stakeholders have called for the improvement of anti-sexual harassment policies in higher institutions of learning across the country, to effectively address the spate of sexual harassment.
They made the call at a one-day consultative meeting with experts and regulatory bodies in the educational sector, a European Union project organised by the Women Advocates Research & Documentation Centre, WARDC.
Some of the stakeholders were Dr Ayeni Joseph Olabode, Deputy Registrar/Head of Counseling Unit, Lagos State University, and Dr Akinola Akintayo, Senior Lecturer/Researcher at the Department of Public Law, University of Lagos.
