Mar 2, 2021 San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg is announcing new leadership for the project to redevelop the Alamo Plaza. Nirenberg on Monday said City Councilman Roberto Trevino is no longer the head of the committee. Nirenberg has appointed Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran to lead the project. In September, the Texas Historical Commission denied the committee permission to move the Cenotaph. Trevino said that decision killed the Alamo Plan. Nirenberg says the project will move ahead with a new leader and a new design.
