BRTA Awarded New Vehicles Through State Program

BOSTON The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority will receive eight new vehicles through the state Community Transit Grant Program as well as funds to support a training program. The Baker-Polito Administration announced Wednesday a total of $8.6 million for cities, towns, and nonprofit organizations to use under the Community Transit Grant Program administered by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). The annual competitive grant program awards money to be used for transit operating costs, mobility management, or new capital investments.   Community Transit Grants provide critical funding to local organizations to purchase equipment to help people get where they need to go efficiently and safely, Governor Charlie Baker said. Our Administration will continue to make efforts to work with local leaders, community stakeholders, and the private sector to make transit accessible to everyone.

Berkshire Athenaeum Offers Expanded Services for Bookworms

The circulation and reference desk have been pushed into the lobby of the Wendell Avenue entrance. PITTSFIELD, Mass. Though municipal buildings are currently closed because of the spike in COVID-19 cases, residents can still find solace in materials from their local library. The Berkshire Athenaeum is offering a slate of newly adjusted library services including a personalized reading service called Picked4You, children s book bundles, and an increased collection of wifi hotspots available for loan. Things are rolling and we re seeing a lot of interest, a lot of folks who are grateful that we re there for them, Reference Services Supervisor Madeline Kelly said.

Wicked Local Dennis Holiday Lights winners Eleven businesses and nonprofits and 21 residences entered the Dennis Chamber of Commerce s first Dennis Holiday Lights contest. Participants were asked to decorate their location, business or residence for a safe holiday event. Over 2,800 votes were cast during the voting period.  Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty office on 6A in Dennis won the business category. They will receive a half-page ad in the Dennis Chamber of Commerce 2021 guidebook ($1,200 value) and a chamber membership for a year.
