A packed Huxley City Council meeting ended with a round of applause for the failed ousting of the city administrator Rita Conner.
The special meeting Wednesday night did not allow public comment, but that did not stop about 50 people from attending the meeting, far surpassing the normal attendance of three to four, Councilmember Tracey Roberts said.
If it wasn t for the overwhelming community support for Conner, Roberts said the resolution to remove her may have passed.
“I’ve been a part of the crowd out there as a citizen and I’ve been in the seat up here as a member of the council, Huxley Mayor Kevin Deaton said at the meeting. I’ve been a member of the Huxley community for a really long time and I’ve seen us make some really stupid decisions, but this is the worst one I’ve ever seen.”
