A vacant site in Hurt will soon be home to hundreds of jobs for the area. Pittsylvania County leaders broke ground on a new facility, Staunton River Plastics, on Wednesday. This is a story of a community continuing to believe in itself, said Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisor Tim Dudley. This is the story of a town working to create a new identity after the loss of a pillar industry.
Staunton River Plastics will create more than 200 jobs and invest $34 million in the area to build a 250,000 square-foot facility. The facility will be the first tenant of the Southern Virginia Multimodal Park in Hurt.
