In the final weeks before Tuesday s Cathedral City special election on Measure B, an initiative that will decide the future of short-term rentals in the city, a campaign committee supported by Airbnb has donated $75,000 to bolster Measure B opposition. Voters in this western Coachella Valley city are casting ballots after months of heated debate between short-term rental owners, who say it is their right to rent out their properties, and their neighbors, who contend these properties disrupt neighborhoods and diminish residents  quality of life.   A yes vote on Measure B will uphold City Council s 2020 decision to phase out short-term rentals by 2023. A “no” vote will revert to a prior set of regulations on short-term rentals in the city.
