IONIA The city of Ionia is applying for a grant to improve the oxidation towers at its Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The Ionia City Council voted unanimously at a special meeting Tuesday, May 25, to authorize an application to the Michigan Community Development Block Grant to improve the oxidation towers at the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The vote was 8-0, with Fourth Ward Councilmember Janice Gustafson absent.
Ionia was eligible to apply for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Water-Related Infrastructure Community Development Block Grant Program, said City Manager Precia Garland. The application deadline is May 31.
Upgrading the oxidation towers at the Ionia Wastewater Treatment Plant was determined as an eligible project activity, Garland said.
