The initiative, which would impact Long Beach's largest hospitals and smaller clinics, would cover a broad range of workers in a health care setting, including technicians, maintenance workers, janitors, housekeeping staff, groundskeepers and food service workers.
All eight of the new licenses will be reserved for "equity" business owners that have lower net worths, whose family has been affected by the war on drugs or who meet other metrics outlined in the city's cannabis equity program.
Oil is still a big part of the city’s budget, and it's expected to stay that way until at least 2035. Even then, the job of abandoning city-owned wells won't be entirely finished.
