A swan discovered by fareham creek. Photo by: Glyn Lewis A BIRD Flu outbreak has allegedly been found in a population of swans after several were discovered dead. Up to ten dead swans are said to have been discovered by residents at Fareham creek. Local councillor for Fareham East, Councillor Tom Davies said he was notified of the deaths two weeks ago, and went to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to report the issue. The councillor claims that representatives of the agency have visited the area to take swabs from three of the dead birds, and have since confirmed to him that Avian bird flu was present.
