The pedestrian bridge to Cleethorpes front from Suggitt s Lane is now expected to cost up to £3million, it has been revealed.
It will replace the crossing over the railway line which has been closed for two years.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson approved a new bridge crossing the rail line to Cleethorpes after bumping into campaigners in a lift at Westminster.
He announced in the House of Commons in October he backed the proposal for a new bridge crossing.
