Published: 2:40 PM March 8, 2021    Updated: 3:54 PM March 8, 2021 Roy Brame, Norfolk County Councillor for Thetford East, has resigned from the council and as a Conservative member.   - Credit: Norfolk Conservatives A county councillor has resigned and quit the Conservative party, for “a change in direction” and to spend more time with his family.  Roy Brame, Norfolk County councillor for Thetford East, has resigned from the council and as a Conservative member.   Mr Brame, who was elected onto the council in 2017, said: “I have resigned as a county councillor and I am no longer a member of the Conservative association. I am now an independent district councillor.

“I can understand why people get frustrated and annoyed when they see large scale consultations or rebranding exercises when they don’t see these minor things being addressed.  “There are lots of the issues in Thetford but they are not rocket science. There is so much we could do which is relatively cheap and simple and would make a huge difference to our town.   “That said, residents and businesses 100pc need to engage with the consultation and people should grasp the opportunity to put their point of view across.”  Roy Brame, vice-chairman of Breckland Council, said it is people s attitudes which need to change in order to make Thetford a better place.
