The Town Board of License Commissioners held its annual liquor and outdoor entertainment license renewal meeting on November 3, but not before first gathering as the Town Council to discuss a resolution concerning cooperation on liquor law.
Lobbyist Rick McAuliffe paid a visit to the Town Council last Friday to give an update on how things are going for the town’s legislative agenda at the Rhode Island State Legislature. The town has sent three resolutions to the General Assembly: one.
The Town Council received an update from lobbyist Rick McAuliffe of the Mayforth Group on the “Mexican standoff” between the town and the Rhode Island State Police on Friday, April 29. The State Police are currently requesting $45,000 for the summer.
“At first blush, I haven’t figured out which part of the web complicates the next (part),” Second Warden Sven Risom said, describing the requests of the Sewer Commission to the Town Council. He went on to describe the agenda item as a “rushed.
“I’m going to hold firm that we should not be paying for them,” Town Manager Maryanne Crawford told the Town Council at its April 13 meeting. First Warden André Boudreau had asked Crawford if she had an update on the situation with the R.I. State.
