MORGANTOWN A student from Parkersburg has been named the 25th West Virginia University Truman Scholar, the nation’s top graduate fellowship award for aspiring public service leaders.
Abigail Smith is a second-year political science student in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. From a young age she aspired to a career where she could make a difference in the future of the state.
“I was raised in an environment in West Virginia where a lot of people needed a lot of help, and I saw that all the time,” Smith said.
