Plans to build community hub in Barrowden, including a shop, village hall and GP surgery, approved by Rutland County councillors Published: 06:00, 12 February 2021
Plans to build a community hub at a cost of £1m have been given a reluctant approval by councillors.
At a meeting of Rutland County Councilâs planning committee on Tuesday, a project to rebuild Barrowdenâs village hall, community shop and GP surgery under one roof sparked debate between members.
Barrowden Parish Council applied for planning permission to combine the three buildings because the existing hall, built in 1927, is approaching the end of its life, and the shop is currently housed in a temporary prefabricated unit.
