LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) Lynnae Burns, a La Crosse art teacher whose nomination for a state award lauded her as “a beloved teacher and trusted colleague,” received the 2021 Middle-Level Art Educator Award from the Wisconsin Art Education Association.
Burns, who teaches art at Lincoln/SOTA II/Coulee Montessori, plans to retire this year after nearly three decades of serving in public education.
One of the letters nominating Burns for the award said, “Lynnae is a nurturing and inspiring teacher. She has taught many ages and at many schools and her legacy remains her innovative lessons coupled with a deep compassion and interest in her students. LA CROSSE, Wis., (WKBT) The La Crosse School Board approved the hiring of Nicki Pope as the new principal of Northside Elementary/Coulee Montessori, effective July 1.
Pope, who will replace retiring principal Laura Huber, has 10 years of administrative experience, including being principal of Lemonweir Elementary School in Tomah, Wis., since 2012.
Before that, Pope was special education director at the Cooperative Educational Service Agency No. 4. She also has six years of experience as a special education teacher.
